  • Did you know that there are TONS of vegetables that you may eat (and should eat) on a weight loss program? The best part is if you are on a plan that involves calorie counting, these calories don't count! In fact, it takes more calories to burn these veggies than are actually in the veggies. Part of the reason for this is your body and digestive track have to work hard to digest these vegetables, thus raising your metabolic rate. So what are these infamous vegetables? Here you go!
    LETTUCE (ALL TYPES)
    BROCCOLI
    CAULIFLOWER
    ASPARAGUS
    MUSHROOMS
    KALE
    SPINACH
    CUCUMBERS
    ONIONS(ALL TYPES)
    RAW CARROTS
    RAW TOMATOS
    ALFALFA SPROUTS
    BRUSSEL SPROUTS
    CABBAGE
*PEAS, CORN, AND POTATOES ARE NOT ON THIS LIST. THEY ARE STARCHES.
This list is not all-inclusive, these are just the more popular choices.
I like to cook a chicken breast and add it to 2 cups of steamed broccoli with 1 ounce of cheese all stirred together. The cheese melts to add a bit of flavor. I have a huge plate of food with only 200 calories that I need to count towards my weight loss plan for the day!
    Healthy eating!

PS. I'm still l;ooking for more healthy recipes! I will give a free "lipo" injection to everyone who sends me one. THANKS!!!

  • Hello Everyone,

Tracy Underdown here, welcoming you to my very first blog and hoping that you have a wonderful, happy and healthy New Year. First, just a little about me...I have been in the health and fitness industry for 20 years. For years I have enjoyed encouraging my clients to be healthy and fit through nutritional counseling and personal training. I was also the ANBC Natural Bodybuilding Champion in 2002. Watching our patients here at Medical Weight Loss Center succeed gives me such satisfaction on a daily basis that it is both a pleasure and a priviledge to come to work every day!

We all know that January is the biggest month for people to decide to make a change. Whether it's quitting smoking, deciding to be on time to work from now on, or losing weight. My hope is that we all resolve to be healthier. We all want to be around for as long as possible for our children, grand-children and those we love. That means excercising and doing some kind of cardio for our heart health. it also means eating healthier and losing weight. Typically we look better when we lose weight, but I look at improved appearance as a wonderful "side effect" to being healthier. Whether you choose our Medical Weight Loss center or try another path, if you keep in mind that you want to make healthier choices every day, you are setting yourself up to succeed.

Now for a tip!! Dining out is always a challenge, but especially during the Holidays. Before you attend a party or go to a restaurant, eat an apple and drink a glass of water. If you don't like apples, choose another piece of fruit. Do this literally right before you leave or even on your way to the dinner or party. It won't ruin your apetite, but you will be more able to stick to your "plan".

Look for more tips this month and feel free to contact me through our "contact us" page. If you would like a free weightloss consultation you may call us or again, use the "contact us" page.

I am looking for some new healthy recipes so by all means submit them please!

Good luck this year with all of your hopes and endeavors,

    Tracy
